Intelligent Management of Shante UPS Power Battery |
Time:2019-02-18 Source: Views:3218 |
As an energy storage device in UPS system, Shante UPS power supply battery is one of the key equipments in Shante UPS system. Its function is to provide power to load when the power quality is not stable beyond the allowable range of power equipment. At the same time, Sander battery is an expensive consumable. Therefore, how to rationally use and manage batteries to prolong their service life has been a research and improvement topic for UPS manufacturers for many years. With the development of science and technology, UPS battery management tends to be more scientific, rigorous and intelligent. This paper introduces the advanced intelligent battery management function of UPS based on the characteristics of Shante UPS in Eaton, USA.
1 Intelligent Charging Function
Charging performance is one of the important factors affecting battery life. Early UPS and some low-power UPS only control the charging voltage but not the charging current. In the initial stage of battery charging, because of the large voltage difference between the terminal voltage and the charging voltage, it is easy to cause battery damage due to the excessive charging current. Intelligent charging management can automatically adjust charging mechanism according to the use conditions and environment, thus creating good operating conditions for batteries and effectively prolonging the service life of batteries.
UPS Charging Principle
The charging principle of Shante UPS power supply is shown. SH2 is a battery charging current sensor, which can control the battery charging current by adjusting the output voltage of the rectifier (that is, the battery charging voltage).
(1) Capable of adapting to charge management of different types of batteries
Shante UPS supports the use of a variety of batteries. According to different types of batteries, the charging mechanism will be adjusted automatically. Just input the battery type in the control panel when the battery is installed.
Valve-controlled sealed lead-acid batteries
The charging mode of constant current and constant voltage is adopted. In the initial charging stage, the charging current is relatively large. UPS automatically limits the charging current to 0.1C~0.2C according to the battery capacity allocated. Users can adjust the charging current through the control panel to charge the battery at a constant current, so as to ensure the safety and speed of the battery charging. When the battery capacity reaches 80%, UPS converts to floating charging voltage to charge the battery at constant voltage.
(2) Open lead-acid battery
The charging method of charging first equally and then floating is adopted. Open lead-acid batteries have no strict requirements on charging current. In order to complete recharging of batteries as soon as possible, the charging voltage is automatically adjusted to the average charging voltage. When the battery capacity reaches 80%, UPS converts to floating charging voltage to charge the battery at constant voltage.
(3) Nickel-chromium battery
The factory adjusts the equipment according to the user's needs, and it can also be used for nickel-chromium batteries.
(2) It has the function of temperature compensation of floating charge voltage
According to the characteristics of batteries, when the ambient temperature rises, because the internal resistance of batteries decreases, if the charging voltage remains unchanged, the charging current will increase, resulting in overcharge of batteries. Conversely, when the temperature decreases, if the charging voltage remains unchanged, the battery will be under-charged. Overcharge and undercharge will affect the service life of batteries. The rated operating temperature range of lead-acid batteries is 10 ~30 ~C. In the range of 15 ~25 ~C, the charging voltage does not need to be adjusted with the change of temperature. If the operating temperature is not within this range, the charging voltage should be adjusted automatically with the change of temperature.
Shante UPS power supply has the function of temperature compensation of floating charge voltage. By installing temperature sensors on the batteries, UPS can acquire the environmental temperature data of batteries in real time, and automatically adjust the floating charge voltage according to the change of the environmental temperature of batteries. The temperature adjustment coefficient is -5 mV/CELL/. It can be set in the range of -3 mV to -8 mV/CELL/. It has been shown that when UPS operates at 30 C, the battery life can differ by 30% if UPS has temperature compensation function or not.
The UPS standard of national telecommunication industry implemented on May 1, 2001 clearly requires UPS to have the function of temperature compensation of floating charge voltage.
Automatic Detection Function of 2 Batteries
At present, most medium and large capacity UPS are designed and equipped with this function. Its main function is to detect the battery performance and whether the battery circuit is normal. The basic principle is to detect the discharge current and voltage drop of the battery in a certain period of time by forcing the battery to discharge. Then comparing with the discharge curve of UPS memory, the current state of battery quality is given.
In terms of detection technology, UPS manufacturers are different.
(1) In the field of forced battery discharge, some manufacturers take the way of stopping the rectifier; some manufacturers take the way of reducing the output voltage of the rectifier. Obviously, the latter is more advanced and reliable, because the detection method will not cause the output power cut due to the failure of the battery or battery circuit.
(2) In terms of test procedures, most UPS sets the test interval to 3-6 months, and the discharge time for each test is 6 minutes, or 20-25% of the battery capacity is discharged. In some UPS, constant power discharge is adopted. Because it is not affected by load fluctuation, the parameters obtained are more accurate. However, the problem is that when the load of UPS is lower than the required power (e.g. 25%), the battery detection process can not be carried out.
Sander UPS is equipped with battery contactor. The battery access system is automatically controlled by UPS, which avoids man-made faults caused by improper closing time of battery switch. Battery detection adopts the method of reducing the output voltage of rectifier to ensure the reliability of UPS in battery detection. The testing time lasts 6 seconds. Battery testing will be performed automatically in the following cases:
60 s after system start-up
When the city power is interrupted
24 hours after the restoration of municipal electricity
